F-R-I-E-N-D-S

Friends - those people you can't live without.
True friends - the limited people whom you can trust and rely on.

Friends are no doubt very important people in my life. However, as the bond gets stronger, the expectation escalates as well. I've encountered certain incident lately which sets me into thinking what should i expect from my true friends?

Well, a close friend of mine agreed to meet me and another 2 fair maidens for dinner. It was supposed to be a post birthday dinner cos your truly felt that her birthday won't be completed without a birthday meal with the 3 of them. The 4 of us are bestest of friends by the way. So he called me in the afternoon to inform me that he may need to work late but he'll try to meet us and he'll give us a ring ard 5 plus 6 to confirm if he's meeting us or not.

So we waited and its 5 plus 6 and no phonecall. We took turns to call him but there's no answer. So we waited til 7pm and all of us were hungry so one of us called him and he finally answered. So she asked...

Her: Hey u coming to meet us? We are famished and waiting for yr call.
Him: Oh i cant meet u girls. I have tonnes of work to do. My boss la...give me so much work...yada yada yada...
Her: Oh so where are you now?
Him: Im outside.
Her: Outside? Arent you supposed to be working? Where you going?
Him: Im gonna meet my gf for dinner.
Her: .......

I was furious. We were all furious. So i texted him and said he's being a bitch for treating us like that. No reply, no phonecall and no apology even till now.
Close friend?
Expectation?
I dunno what to expect.
